Obituary

Dr. William Bensheimer, age 58 of Wausau and Delavan, passed away from a heart attack on Thursday, May 4, 2006 in Lake Geneva, WI.  He was born Jan. 27, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana to George and Edna Mae (Lloyd) Bensheimer. He married Nancy Lansdowne on Aug. 22, 1970 in Madison, WI.

Bill was an ordained pastor having ministered in Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin and New Mexico. He most recently served as School Administrator at Faith Christian Academy in Wausau, WI and previously at South Haven Christian School in Valparaiso, IN. He was a long-time teacher and Dean of Students at Faith Christian School in Williams Bay, WI.  Dr. Bensheimer has been listed several times in “Who's Who Among American Teachers.”  He was a coach of many different sports and an avid golfer and outdoorsman. Some of his other roles were counselor, mentor, public speaker, and Bible study teacher.  He also enjoyed traveling, adventure, and taking students on mission trips, as well as spending time with his kids and grandkids. Bill and Nancy attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Wausau.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his father, George Bensheimer of Franklin, IN, a daughter, Julie (Scott) Peterson of Madison, a son Ryan (Krista) Bensheimer of Lake Geneva, two brothers, James Thompson of Ft. Myers, FL, and Russ Bensheimer of Franklin, IN, and five grandchildren: Ridge, Aria, Rhett, Sonnet and Ty. He is predeceased by his mother, Edna Mae.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 7, 2006, at Mt. Zion Christian Church, 2330 Hwy. 120, Lake Geneva, Dale Stolldorf and Mike Bechman officiating. Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Betts Funeral Home, 103 E. Rockwell, Elkhorn. A private interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Faith Christian Academy, E1045 S. Co. Rd. J, Suite A, Wausau, WI 54403.
